The Scientific Software Center (SSC) at the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing, Heidelberg University, aims to improve sustainability of research software and professionalization of its development. The SSC develops software solutions for this purpose, advises researchers and promotes the recognition of RSEs in the scientific community. Ihre Aufgaben

Development of scientific software for research projects in close consultation with researchers
-
Advising researchers at Heidelberg University on the development and use of research software, and interpretation of results
-
Development of scripts and optimized software installations for university compute resources
-
Conception and implementation of training courses and web-based materials on biomolecular modeling and structure prediction research software such as AlphaFold
Ihr Profil

Preferably a doctoral degree, but MSc are also encouraged to apply. A master's degree is a prerequisite for this position

Expert domain knowledge in biomacromolecular modeling and structure prediction

Experience with research software development during university study and/or completion of Master's / PhD / further academic employment

Excellent knowledge of Python

Experience with high-performance computing

Knowledge of good software development practice: version control, documentation, CI/CD etc.

Independent, structured way of working
