Your tasks:
The project on "Metrology for genomic profiling to support early cancer detection and precision medicine" is funded as part of the "European Partnership on Metrology Work Programme". Research and development work on the molecular genetic proof of eukaryotic cells and DNA fragments are being carried out in Department 8.3 (Biomedical Optics) within this project.
Your tasks will include:

Applying different methods for the extraction of nucleic acids
-
Using a digital PCR for the quantification of the concentration of selected gene sequences of cells in reference materials

Developing an assay design for quantitative/digital PCR
-
Carrying out a data analysis and calculating the measurement uncertainty for the developed method
-
Supporting the ongoing research process
-
Mentoring students and technical staff in scientific matters
Ihr Profil
-
You have completed your university studies (master's degree or German Diplom) and obtained a doctorate in biochemistry, molecular biology or biotechnology.

You have knowledge and practical experience with nucleic acid amplification techniques such as digital PCR or qPCR.
-
You also have knowledge of and skills in the extraction and quantification of nucleic acids.

You have practical knowledge of and experience in assay design (TaqMan).

You ideally have knowledge of genome sequencing or sequence analysis.
-
You are interested in biological/medical issues.
-
You are willing to handle suspensions of blood or plasma.
-
You have a very good command of English, both spoken and written.

You are a strong team player with excellent communication skills.
-
You are highly committed, flexible and you work in a well-structured manner.

You are willing to travel for work both in Germany and abroad.
