Senior Power Electronics Engineer (m/f/d)

In our Centre of Competence for Auxiliary Power Systems, we take a leading position in the design and development of auxiliary power converters and the associated electronic components for locomotives, high-speed trains, trams, buses and much more. To strengthen our motivated team, we are looking for a passionate electrical engineer with expertise in power electronics and ideally railway technology. In this role you will be responsible for design of auxiliary power converters for railway, in ABB Traction.

Your responsibilities

• Design of auxiliary power converters for railway and bus applications

• Specifying components and defining technical requirements in cooperation with suppliers

• Specifying, carrying out and documenting a wide range of safeguarding tests

• Cooperation and support of our production and series testing

• Creating the technical documentation required for the project

• Technical contact person for our customers in order to question their requirements and to provide custom-fit solutions

• Supporting our service and repair department in analysing and finding solutions to faults

• Supporting the technical sales team and contributing to the standardisation and improvement of our product families

  Your background

• Electronic engineer with > 5 years of professional experience in the field of converter design

• Proven experience in the field of power electronics design and application, preferably in the areas of auxiliary power or railway technology

• Experience in the use of SiC semiconductors is an advantage

• Doctorate in the field of power electronics would be an advantage

• Good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken

• Independent, goal-oriented and structured way of working

• Enjoy working in an international and interdisciplinary team

• Able to work under pressure and still set the right priorities and deliver good results even under time pressure
