The General Ledger Accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter) plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the integrity of the company's general ledger. They are responsible for journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

Account Reconciliation: Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed.

Accruals and Prepayments: Calculate and record accruals, prepayments, and other adjusting entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Fixed Assets: Maintain and update fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules and disposals.

Month-End Close: Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of financial statements.

Financial Reporting: Generate and analyze financial reports, providing insights and explanations for variances to budget or prior periods.

Intercompany Transactions: Reconcile and eliminate intercompany transactions between different business units or subsidiaries.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.

Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation and explanations for audit inquiries.

Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to streamline general ledger processes and enhance efficiency.

Software Proficiency: Utilize accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to perform tasks and maintain financial records.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, to resolve accounting-related issues.

Ad-Hoc Analysis: Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management.
Ihr Profil

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (preferred).

CPA or progress towards certification is a plus.

5+ years of experience in general ledger accounting or a related role.

Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (HGB & GAAP).

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Knowledge of financial reporting and financial statement preparation.

Excellent German language skills required.

Experience with ERP system Netsuite Oracle is a plus.
