Ihre Aufgaben
Our team in the "Sensory Micromodules" group works in close cooperation with the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg on the development of new sensors and sensor principles. In this position, we combine the research environment of Fraunhofer IPMS with the possibility of a doctorate at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) in the field of micro- and nanosystems.
The PhD topic includes the development of new photonic sensor technologies for the near infrared range for application in security and automation. We are looking for a person who will support the technical and technological development, be responsible for the development of design software for the design of metasurfaces as spectral filter units and ultimately form a basis for decision-making for future application-specific development steps.
What you will do

Simulation and design of metastructures

Scientific exchange and presentation of research results at conferences and project meetings within the consortium as well as participation in workshops,

Regular exchange and support through seminars and lectures as part of the doctoral college at Fraunhofer IPMS

The weekly working time is 40 hours. The position can also be filled on a part-time basis. The position is initially limited to 3 years. Employment as a postdoc is desired. Ihr Profil

Completed scientific univerasity studies (Master or Diploma) in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, semiconductor technology, microelectronics, photonic technologies or a comparable field

Strong interest in modelling and initial knowledge of working with software tools such as Matlab and Ansys Lumerical

Expertise in programming with Python and familiarity with photonic measurement technology an advantage

Independent, solution-orientated way of working and the ability to think outside the box

Curiosity and enthusiasm for a scientific working environment

Good to very good knowledge of German and English
