The Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon conducts cutting-edge international research for a changing world: Around 1,000 employees contribute to the tackling of climate change, the sustainable use of the world's coastal systems and the resource-compatible enhancement of the quality of life. From fundamental research to practical applications, the interdisciplinary research spectrum covers a unique range.
Ihre Aufgaben
As part of the observation system MOSES (Modular Observation Solutions for Earth Systems) we received funding for the one-year project KURE (Kurzfristvorhersage und schnelle Risikoanalyse meteorologischer und hydrologischer Extreme - Short-term forecast and fast risk analysis of meteorological and hydrological extreme events).
In this project, the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon focusses on the tidal part of the Elbe River, the impacts of extreme events and the development of warning systems. This particular position will entail collecting and providing biogeochemical, pollution and other data from the tidal Elbe River, in the surroundings of the Geesthacht weir and the German Bight, as well as being involved in the conceptual framework and development of a user interface for an extreme event warning system. The position will be supervised by Dr Holger Brix and Dr Tina Sanders.
The place of employment is Geesthacht. Anticipated starting time for the position is as soon as possible. Due to regulations by the funding body this position will have to terminate on December 31st, 2025.
Equal opportunity is an important part of our personnel policy. We would therefore strongly encourage qualified women to apply for the position. In principle, the full time position (39 h/week) is also sharable.
