Your tasks:
- Management of international projects and studies (backstopping) on site and Hamburg-based (financial and technical administration, monitoring of projects and studies), mainly in French-speaking African countries
- Networking with donor agencies, beneficiaries, partner companies or institutions, subcontractors and experts
- Acquisition of new projects, including elaboration and coordination of technical and financial proposals in the field of public finance management.
- Conducting fact-finding and technical short-term consultancy missions
- Elaboration of reports, financial tools, concepts and presentations and contribution to knowledge and quality management
- Expert and contract management,
- Representing GFA in conferences and seminars
- Supporting on-the-job-training of our Junior Professionals
Your profile:
- University degree (MA) in business administration, economics, development studies. A focus on finance, accounting or controlling would be an asset
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience in the context of development cooperation, preferably on project located in low- and middle-income countries (including remotely)
- Working experience in a low- or middle-income country with responsibility related to finance, accounting, procurement or audit
- Familiarity with Bilateral/Multilateral donors and international financial institutions policies and procedures
- Familiarity with The Global Fund, Millennium Challenge Corporation or Gavi strategies and policies will be a strong asset
- Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa is a strong asset
- Full proficiency in written and spoken English and French is a prerequisite. Basic knowledge of German is considered as an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office package including Excel
- Willingness to travel extensively to the countries within Africa
- Strong writing, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage complex situations under tight schedules
