The LEIBNIZ-INSTITUTE FOR APPLIED GEOPHYSICS (LIAG) invites applications for temporary employment at the earliest possible date with 100 % of the regular weekly working time limited until 31.12.2024 for the position of, The Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics (LIAG) is an independent research institute in Hannover.The focus is on the exploration of the usable subsurface, the development of measurement and evaluation methods, as well as the operation and development of scientific information systems such as the Geothermal Information System GeotIS and the Geophysics Information System. To support the heat transition in Germany, the LIAG is working on new features for GeotIS in the "ArtemIS" project. For this we are looking for a java developer.
Your tasks:

Support the ongoing development of the Geothermal Information System GeotIS

Programming of Java servlets

Work on data visualisation (2D/3D graphics algorithms)

Updating / replacement of existing software components

Adaptation of the GeotIS database to project requirements

Troubleshooting- User and system documentation

Working in a team of geoscientists and IT developers
Ihr Profil
-
Completed university studies (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the field of geoinformatics, computer science or a comparable field

English language skills (at least comparable to level B2 GeR)

Experience in software development

In-depth Java knowledge

Knowledge in the development of relational databases

Knowledge in the development of web applications

Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ideally, you also meet the following requirements:
- Experience in the development of internet applications in a team
- Experience with version management
- Experience with IDEs (e.g. Eclipse, Spring)
- In-depth SQL knowledge
- Work experience at a research institute
