Located between beautiful mountain ranges in the secure and dynamic Kurdistan region of northern Iraq, American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) is an independent, non-profit, coeducational, liberal arts university that has no owners or shareholders and which operates solely for the public benefit.

Ihre Aufgaben
The Photographer will assist the Communications Department in the management and development of digital photography and videography at American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS). The successful candidate will be tasked with implementing a photography and videography plan to build a high-quality database of stock images for use across print and digital projects, showing all aspects of University life, as well as developing engaging video content for marketing and digital platforms. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of documentary-style and portrait photography; videography and video editing; experience using the latest photography editing software; and a commitment to producing high-quality photographs and videos for professional and digital media use. H/she will work closely with other departments within the University to document activities on campus and in the classroom; take photographs and videos during official AUIS events; and maintain the University's photo and video database, under the supervision of the Director of Communications (DC) and Executive Director of Communications and Enrollment (EDCE).
Main responsibilities
Effectively manage the University's photography and video database, prioritizing high-quality images and footage, and ensuring all necessary metadata is included in photo and video files;

Plan, shoot, and edit photos and videos for all University activities as determined by the DC, EDCE, or designee;

Ensure timely and accurate editing and archiving of all photos and videos;

Work closely with members of the Communications Department to ensure photos and video content meet requirements for various department needs;

Assist with graphic design projects as required by the DC and EDCE;

Coordinate high-quality photography and video projects and implementation through collaboration with various University departments, interns and volunteers.

Provide photography and videography for official University events.

Previous experience in relevant field of higher education, communications, publications or digital/social marketing desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent digital photography and videography skills are ESSENTIAL for this job.

Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize, and to deliver work under tight deadlines.

Familiarity with and experience using Adobe photo and video editing and graphic design software is required.

Self-starter, able to work independently; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.

Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all stakeholder groups including faculty, staff, students, alumni, government, and community organizations.

Strong IT skills, including good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office etc.
