Ihre Aufgaben

• Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Electrical and Computer Engineering as well as Data Science

• Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate student projects and theses

• Engaging with local, regional and international stakeholders, and other Departments and academic institutions and Faculty through collaborative research

• Providing ongoing revision of the curriculum to keep abreast of development and innovation in the latest technologies such as AI, 5G, 4IR, etc.

• Developing professional short courses to respond to the changes within the industry specifically focusing on local and regional needs

• Serving on committees at the Department, Faculty and University levels

Ihr Profil

The successful candidate must possess a PhD, which should be in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely-related field with emphasis in Data Science, a blend of academic, research and industrial experience; proven leadership experience; a strong international scholarly reputation for research in the field; demonstrated ability to lead related research within the Department and to win substantial external research funding. The candidate's records should demonstrate:

• Outstanding teaching and research of a minimum of ten (10) years at the tertiary level at a recognised university in at least two (2) of the following areas:

  • Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Mathematics
  • Data Science

• A track record of distinguished, original and innovative work in the area of expertise; high quality publications in peer-reviewed international journals

  Further consideration will be given to candidates with knowledge in the following:

• Artificial Intelligence

• Machine Learning and Big Data

• Operations Research and Mathematical Programming

• Data Mining and Statistical Analysis

  Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

• Patents in the area of Data Science and/or Electrical and Computer Engineering

• At least ten (10) years postgraduate teaching experience

• Experience in the development of university level Data Science and Electrical Engineering courses

• A combined total of at least twenty (20) publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals that demonstrate applied research and international granted patents

• Evidence of prior success in generating funding for research

• Evidence of prior success in performing collaborative research with local and regional companies

• Engagement in innovation activities

  The following would be considered assets:

• Certificate in university teaching and learning or equivalent

• Industry experience in the area of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Data Science or Computer Science and Mathematics

• A formidable record of innovative pedagogy and andragogy in face-to-face and virtual environments

• Development and innovation of the latest technologies such as AI, 5G, 4IR

• Success in and wide recognition of professional activities, The Campus places high priority on individuals who can work well in a team environment. Candidates should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates must also:

• be versatile and effective teachers

• have a keen interest in innovation and in researching new technologies/applications

• be interested in local and regional needs, economic and social development

• be able to interact and work well with staff, students and industry stakeholders

• have excellent organizational and leadership skills

• be self-motivated and capable of mentoring and motivating students and staff

• develop students' appreciation and passion for the study of Data Science
