Ihre Aufgaben


  • Delivering lectures in the Department's graduate and undergraduate programmes

  • Meeting students individually to discuss progress

  • Checking and assessing students' work

  • Pursuing research

  • Interviewing potential students

  • Carrying out administration

  • Participating in Committee, Departmental, and Faculty meetings

  • Writing research proposals, papers and other publications

  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students and research staff

  • Managing research budgets

  • Preparing bids for funding for departmental research projects

  • Setting and grading assignments, tests, and exams

  • Providing training and mentoring to teaching assistants and junior lecturers

  • Reviewing methods and teaching materials and making recommendations for improvement

  • Assisting with student recruitment, interviews, and academic counseling sessions



Ihr Profil


The successful candidate must possess a PhD, which should be in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering and Management or a closely-related field, a blend of academic, research and industrial experience; proven leadership experience; a strong international scholarly reputation for research in the field; demonstrated ability to lead related research within the Department and to win substantial external research funding. The candidate's records should demonstrate:

  • Outstanding teaching, research and at least fifteen (15) years related academic and professional/industrial experience as a distinguished Civil/Construction Engineer

  • A track record of distinguished, original and innovative work in the area of expertise; high quality publications in peer-reviewed international journals

  • Membership of an internationally recognized professional body or Engineering institution

    Further consideration will be given to candidates with:

  • At least fifteen (15) years industry experience

  • A minimum of twenty-one (21) publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals

  • Evidence of prior success in the preparation of research proposals in Construction Management

  • Competence in developing curricula in Construction Engineering/ Construction Materials

    Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

  • B.Sc. in Construction Engineering and Management or Civil Engineering

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineer (UK)

  • Experience in supervising Construction Engineering and Management projects at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels

  • Evidence of grant awards and administration

  • Proficiency in mentoring staff

    The following would be considered assets:

  • Certificate in university teaching and learning or equivalent

  • A minimum of ten (10) papers presented at conferences

  • Specialization in at least one (1) of the following areas:

  • Facilities Management

  • Construction Sustainability

  • Equipment Selection and Usage in Construction

  • Cash Flow Management and Business Accounting, The Campus places high priority on individuals who can work well in a team environment. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates must also:

  • have course and project coordination skills

  • be willing to forge working relationships and meaningful engagement with external stakeholders (industry and universities)

  • be able to integrate theory and practice
