Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Counseling & Psychological Center is a unit within UNCG's Student Health Services. The UNCG Counseling & Psychological Center provides a wide range of counseling and psychological services to currently enrolled UNCG students virtually and in person, designed to support and challenge students' personal growth, academic success, and emotional health, as well as services and programs to promote positive mental health throughout the University community. The services may include: short-term individual counseling, group therapy, workshops, psychiatric services, and a variety of outreach programs designed to promote self-help and personal growth. Our staff is committed to meeting the needs of people of diverse racial, ethnic, and national backgrounds, gender, sexual/affectional orientations, mental and physical abilities, religious/spiritual beliefs, and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as other types of diversity.

An earned Doctorate from an accredited program in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselor Education, or Social Work.

Licensed, or license eligible by the State of North Carolina to practice clinical services within area of competency. Continued employment is contingent on acquiring North Carolina License within 12 months of employment.

Experience with the college student population or knowledge about issues relevant to college students.

Demonstrated proficiency in and a commitment to multicultural competence and experience working with individuals from culturally diverse populations, as well as underrepresented and/or underserved populations.

Demonstrated understanding and clinical application of the intersectionality of identity and mental health.
