The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and analytical sciences.
Ihre Aufgaben
To strengthen our team in the division 7. "Safety of Structures" in Berlin-Steglitz, starting as soon as possible, we are looking for a Research Assistant (m/f/d) - Fire Protection in Industrial Buildings - Computational Science and Engineering, Physical Engineering, Process Engineering or a comparable discipline
Salary group 13TVöD
Temporary contract until 30.04.2025
Full-time / suitable as part-time employment
We are looking for talented people to join us.
Your activity:
Your responsibilities include:
New energy sources are increasingly being used to reduce CO2 emissions. However, these differ in their fire behaviour compared to conventionally used energy carriers. When storing new energy carriers in industrial buildings, the changed fire behaviour must therefore be considered accordingly.
Within the framework of the project, research is to be carried out on the fire safety of industrial buildings. The tasks include:
-
Carrying out fire simulations and fire safety analyses
-
Setting up computational models that consider physical and chemical processes in fires by coupling heat transport processes
-
Computational investigation of selected constructions and evaluation of the constructions with respect to fire safety
-
Investigation of mathematical-physical models for modelling fire propagation
-
Evaluation, documentation, and assessment of results from experimental and numerical investigations
-
Regular reporting to the project leader
-
Publication and presentation of the results as well as interdisciplinary exchange
-
Possibility of doctoral study is given
