Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Title IX Office is part of the Office of Institutional Integrity and General Counsel (OIIGC). The Title IX Coordinator reports to the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Integrity and General Counsel and is responsible for the development, implementation, and operation of an enterprise-wide Title IX compliance program at UNCG to ensure the institution's full adherence to the legal, ethical, and regulatory obligations imposed by all levels of government including, but not limited to, the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the North Carolina Justice Department, the UNC System Office, and other oversight agencies., The Title IX Coordinator reports to the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Integrity and General Counsel and is responsible for the development, implementation, and operation of an enterprise-wide Title IX compliance program at UNCG to ensure the institution's full adherence to the legal, ethical, and regulatory obligations imposed by all levels of government including, but not limited to, the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the North Carolina Justice Department, the UNC System Office, and other oversight agencies., Ensure that the University's policies, including but not limited to the comprehensive sexual misconduct policy are in compliance with federal Title IX regulations and all related state and local laws and policies. Essential Tasks

  • Monitor changes in federal regulations and their interpretation to ensure university policy is up to date and reflects best practices.

  • Stay abreast of Department of Education guidance released in the form of Office for Civil Rights resolution letters to campus.

  • Work collaboratively with the Office of Institutional Integrity and General Counsel (OIIGC) to ensure university policy is aligned with and informed by state and local law.

  • Serve as the University's liaison on Title IX-related policy concerns to the UNC System Office.

  • Provide consultation for the development of other campus-based policies that intersect with Title IX concerns.

  • Coordinates with the Clery Act Compliance Officer with respect to overlapping obligations related to interpersonal violence crimes, prevention, education, and training.

    Percentage Of Time 40 Key Responsibility Provide leadership and consultation for ensuring that the campus climate supports equal access to educational and work experiences for all, regardless of sex, gender, or gender-identity. Essential Tasks

  • Oversee training initiatives that foster a positive campus climate.

  • Monitor implementation of Title IX-related policies to ensure that campus practices are consistent with both the letter and the intent of providing equal access to education.

  • Provide consultation for campus leadership regarding strategies that promote equal access and to raise awareness about strategies that could have unintended negative consequences for equal access.

  • Prepare and disseminate Title IX-related educational materials to the campus community including, but not limited to, faculty and staff reporting obligations.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with Counseling and Psychological Services, Dean of Students, and others to ensure adequate prevention and awareness programming throughout the year.

    Percentage Of Time 40 Key Responsibility Oversee and conduct investigations related to Title IX. Essential Tasks

  • Hire, train, and supervise the Title IX investigator.

  • Develop and implement an investigation plan for each reported Title IX incident.

  • Ensure parties' equitable access to University programs and activities, including implementation of interim measures before the final results of an investigation, as necessary. Interim measures may include, but are not limited to housing, academic, working, and other environmental accommodations, as possible.

  • Produce comprehensive Title IX investigation reports for cases, as appropriate.

  • Collaborate with the Office of Human Resources, the Office of the Provost, and the Division of Student Affairs in relation to investigations involving staff, faculty, students, and third parties respectively.

  • Ensure adjudicators and those involved with processing Title IX complaints are adequately trained.

  • Consult with the OIIGC as needed.

  • Collaborate with the UNCG Police Department as appropriate.

  • Monitor overall patterns in reporting, findings, and sanctioning and provide periodic reports to senior leadership.

  • Share patterns, and provide consultation regarding awareness, prevention, and other educational efforts that may be beneficial.

  • Evaluate all requests for confidentiality by victims.

  • Serve on appropriate University safety and concerns committees.

  • Significant and progressively responsible experience demonstrating a clear understanding of Title IX and related compliance issues.

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting investigations and interpreting and applying policy.

  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and interact with culturally diverse individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Evidence of excellent written and oral communication, and human relations/interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work discreetly with sensitive information.,

  • Prior work experience in higher education.

  • Excellent training skills, and ability to project manage and collaborate with others to achieve goals.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with all divisions to lead and develop an environment of compliance and improved efficiency.
