Phillips Edison & Company ('PECO') is seeking an experienced attorney who is an expert on commercial real estate development in the retail space to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of experience handling complex real estate development deals including ground-up development, redevelopment, entitlements, REA, work letters, zoning, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and support to the company's real estate development team
- Draft and negotiate complex real estate development agreements, including purchase and sale agreements, development agreements, construction contracts, ground leases and lease agreements
- Advise on land use and zoning issues, including entitlements and permitting
- Manage local counsel on real estate development matters
- Provide legal support on other real estate-related matters as needed
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in the state where the company is located
- At least ten years of experience handling complex real estate development deals
- Strong knowledge of commercial real estate development, including ground-up development, redevelopment, entitlements, REA, work letters, zoning, etc.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
