Ihre Aufgaben


Hours: 40 hours per week from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Friday although additional hours will be necessary in order to fulfil the requirements of the post, The Communications Officer will report to the Head of Press & Communications and work closely with the Marketing & Commercial team to ensure that The Old Vic's social channels, content, e-comms and communications strategies are industry leading, and will work to maximises press opportunities and coverage in relation to productions, audience development initiatives, brand awareness, corporate affairs and fundraising campaigns.,

  • To support the Communications & Content Managers in leading the organisation's social, content and communications strategy

  • To support the Deputy Head of Press in ensuring that The Old Vic has a vibrant, creative and engaging PR presence that acts as a gateway to the theatre and clearly communicates all aspects of the theatre's work

  • To support the Deputy Head of Press and Communications & Content Managers in ensuring that all communications and PR outputs support wider organisational strategic aims for brand awareness, audience development and sales targets

  • To support the Deputy Head of Press in ensuring that all press coverage is monitored and reported to key stakeholders

  • To support the Communications & Content Managers in long-term campaign planning that is sensitive to key organisation and industry milestones that is sensitive to The Old Vic's wider ED&I calendar

  • To protect The Old Vic brand at all times.

    Areas of Responsibility

    Strategy

  • To support the Communications & Content Managers and Deputy Head of Press to ensure that all outward facing communications remain of the highest standard and tonally on brand

  • To bring energy and enthusiasm to the development of The Old Vic's TikTok channel, bringing learnings and insights to the weekly trend meeting and exploring ways to grow The Old Vic brand amongst younger audiences through this channel

  • To support the Communications and Marketing teams in facilitating new and ongoing relationships with key influencers, supporting on the planning and administration of influencer events

  • To lead on agreed press campaigns, and to support the Deputy Head of Press in devising and implementing all PR and comms strategy, working collaboratively with all teams within the organisation to achieve this

  • To lead on agreed e-comms creation and support the Communications & Content Managers in the realisation of the e-comms strategy, supporting in the creation of emails, link tracking and reporting

  • To support the Communications & Content Managers and Deputy Head of Press in working with the Marketing & Commercial team to develop a fully integrated approach to delivering, reporting and evaluating press campaigns.

    Tactical

  • To own the press, social and ED&I calendars, ensuring these are regularly updated and communicated with the Marketing & Commercial team to inform campaign planning

  • To own social scheduling in line with the press, social and ED&I calendars, and lead on the community engagement function responding to social queries in a way that drives engagement

  • To work collaboratively with the Communications & Content Managers in the creation of content, taking ownership of the TikTok content strategy and leading on the creation of agreed pieces of written and filmed content

  • To work collaboratively with the Communications & Content Managers in the management of social channel scheduling, ensuring equal share of voice across campaign and the balance of campaign priorities

  • To work with the Marketing & Commercial team to devise, schedule and implement creative PR campaigns to complement marketing campaigns

  • To create and proofread all press releases and e-comms and support the internal, and external where necessary, sign-off process

  • To lead in the monitoring of press cuttings and issue regular updates to the Marketing & Commercial team and other stakeholders

  • To manage and issue a regular industry news update to the Marketing & Commercial team and other stakeholders

  • To support the Deputy Head of Press in managing the logistics of media interviews and briefings and content creation ensuring that all parties have comprehensive and timely itineraries

  • To chaperone members of the cast and creative teams during content and media opportunities with discretion and respect

  • To work collaboratively with the Production and Box Office teams in the management of press nights

  • To prepare briefings ahead of all media interviews and key meetings with stakeholders for senior members of staff, company and creative teams

  • To support in the quick and efficient responding to enquiries from the media

  • To take notes for the weekly Marketing and Production meeting to ensure an accurate record of updates and future actions, circulating these with the team.



Ihr Profil


Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • The ability to manage a busy workload

  • An understanding of managing professional relationships with people of high public profile

  • An understanding of the challenges and opportunities for arts institutions in the contemporary landscape

  • An understanding of diversity within the cultural sector

  • An understanding of delivering sales and audience development objectives

  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills

  • The ability to deal confidently, positively and discreetly with all levels of staff and external contacts both face to face and over the telephone

  • The ability to work well under pressure.

  • Good news sense and experience of creating press releases

  • Solid experience of social media management

  • An understanding of Wordfly or similar e-comms platforms

  • Experience of creating filmed content.
