Bard College's Management Information Systems is seeking a new hire in the role of Database Administrator I. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented with a passion for delivering excellent service. Reporting to the Senior Database Administrator, this position will be part of a team tasked with maintaining and deploying technology to meet the dynamic technology needs of the Bard College and its many programs. Bard's Management Information System (MIS) supports the administrative and academic efforts of Bard College Annandale and its partner schools. This MIS team is responsible for the Information systems necessary to support the goals of Bard College's network of schools.
The Database Administrator will manage many tasks as required by various projects. As part of a small, highly motivated and efficient team the position will work closely with the Senior DBA and other areas of IT.
The applicant will be expected to have experience in most of the following:

Relational Database (Oracle or similar)
-
Ellucian Banner or Workday
-
Backup and restoration of supported assets- scheduled or adhoc.

Performing export and import activities - scheduled or adhoc.
-
Database security patch application.
-
Providing timely escalation of complex problems to a technical support resource and/or to the appropriate level of senior staff.
-
Performing DR, backup restoration drill.
-
Logging calls with vendor for product bugs.
-
Project management.
-
Principles and application of information security.
-
Providing Banner® database administration service following standard team processes.
-
Able to provide escalation support whenever required.
-
On operational perspective, responsibilities include troubleshooting problems, working on maintenance windows and providing 24×7 on-call support on a rotational basis.

Database Migration, patch installation, cloning.
-
Session Monitoring, Query or Transaction monitoring, Lock and Latch monitoring
-
Ensuring that all tables have unique primary keys.
-
Looking for harmful growth rates.
-
Archiving all alert logs to history.
-
Conducting Backup , restoration drills for backup verification.
-
Resolving Database Connectivity issues.
-
Maintaining Environment details.
-
Shell Scripting for DB related work.
Ihr Profil
-
Banner® DBA experience, 3-6 years required.
-
Knowledge of Unix and shell scripting.
-
Strong in Banner® fundamentals.
-
Able to Perform Backup & recovery in any scenarios.
-
Knowledge of RMAN tool for Backups.
-
Knowledge of setting up an OEM for basic administration.
-
Knowledge of configuring and setting up maintenance activities for DB.
-
Knowledge of SQL statements tuning and DB Tuning.
-
Excellent communication Skills.
-
Prior experience in a 24×7 environment desired.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Provide on-call support as and when required.
-
Team player who has a customer focus and brings expertise to the team.

Minimum of two years experience.
Desired Qualifications A professional certification in any or all of the following:

OCA & OCP Certified DBA.
-
Extensive Knowledge on Banner®RAC, Data guard, ASM technologies.
-
Experience in Oracle 10g, 11g, 12 Versions, Basic knowledge on BANNER.
-
The ideal candidate will have a four year degree and IT related work experience.
