Purpose of Position NKU invites applications for a Director of Recruitment and Retention (DRR) in our Center for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics (CINSAM). This is a 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position. CINSAM is NKU's science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) center and works with seven departments (Biological Sciences; Chemistry & Biochemistry; Computing & Analytics; Educational Leadership & Advanced Studies; Mathematics & Statistics; Physics, Geology & Engineering Technology; and Teacher Preparation & Educational Studies), across three colleges (Arts & Sciences, Education, and Informatics) and with a variety of community partners. Together, we promote enthusiasm, excellence, and equity in education at P-16 levels by advancing and integrating teaching, learning, and scholarship in the STEM disciplines. Primary Responsibilities The DRR will lead CINSAM's efforts to support the university and CINSAM departments in recruiting and retaining undergraduates in STEM and STEM education majors. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and implementing a system of recruiting and retention in support of STEM & STEM education majors in collaboration with CINSAM departments

  • As part of this system, maintaining a database of students, track student recruitment and retention, and produce reports for various needs

  • Developing and improving recruitment and retention programs in coordination with colleagues in CINSAM, affiliated colleges and departments, and other internal and external groups

  • Managing scholarships for STEM majors

  • Assisting with CINSAM's commitment towards addressing inequities in STEM fields by recruiting, supporting, and serving students from historically underserved populations

  • Teaching courses administered by CINSAM

  • Participating in college/career fairs and STEM days

  • Supervising a graduate assistant who will support the DRR in the work above

  • Other duties as assigned



Ihr Profil


The Director of Recruitment and Retention should possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Superior organizational skills

  • Excellent self-direction

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in informal and formal teams with individuals from diverse communities and cultures

  • Ability to plan and lead other faculty, staff and students in recruiting and retention programming

  • Ability to teach STEM freshmen seminar and STEM leadership courses with training and materials support

  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, which will include occasional evening and weekend assignments

  • Knowledge of advising and/or career development principles/practices is a plus,

  • Master's degree in a STEM, education, or related discipline

  • 3 years of related experience (advising, career development, education or other)

  • Teaching experience
