Director of Education

A unique not-for-profit organisation founded in 2004, STEM Learning's vision is a world-leading STEM education for all young people across the UK. We are dedicated to improving young people's lives through the power of STEM and believe great STEM education builds knowledge and skills that are vital for everyone. To achieve this, we provide a range of support to formal and informal education, including subject-specific professional development for teachers and other educators, quality assured resources, support for STEM Clubs, and student-facing experiences. We lead the STEM Ambassadors programme, which enables 30,000 individuals from more than 7,500 employers to share their enthusiasm and expertise with young people and teachers throughout the UK. We also want the UK to have a sufficient and genuinely diverse supply of people with the knowledge and skills that industry and the public sector need to help our economy grow and society thrive. We need people with STEM skills so that we can address the global challenges (and opportunities) around climate, health, energy security, data and digitalisation that we hear about every day.

We are now seeking a Director of Education, reporting directly into our new CEO, Séverine Trouillet. This role is a dynamic opportunity to provide and clearly communicate the education expertise to ensure STEM Learning is recognised as the authoritative thought leader in STEM education and achieves its vision of a world-leading STEM Education for every young person in the UK. Broadly, this role will be responsible for ensuring STEM Learning is recognised for its expertise, reach and impact on young people's educational outcomes and life chances; making the most of technology to improve education outcomes; and supporting educators and employers to provide an inclusive and sustainable education to drive social change and to address global challenges and the demands of a thriving economy.

An executive search exercise is being undertaken by Perrett Laver to assist the Search Committee in the discharge of their duties; both to identify the widest possible field of candidates and to assist in the assessment of candidates against the requirements of the role.

Ihr Profil

As a prospective candidate, you will hold successful experience of senior leadership - preferably either currently or previously within a school, trust or educational establishment - ideally in rapidly changing and challenging environments. We would expect you to have a strong profile within the STEM education sector, and be recognised as a key influencer maintaining and developing strong stakeholder networks within the STEM community.

Salary: Competitive for the role.

Location: Predominantly York. The role holder will be required to undertake UK travel and occasional overnight stays.
