With its distinctive heritage as one of the oldest independent schools in the UK, King's Ely provides a forward-thinking and contemporary boarding and day education for around 1,150 boys and girls aged 2 to 18. King's Ely was founded to educate the boy choristers of Ely Cathedral over 1,000 years ago and has maintained strong links with the cathedral, proudly educating the boys and girls who make up the cathedral choir today. A unique and purposeful family of schools, together King's Ely Senior (for pupils aged 13 to 18), King's Ely Prep (for pupils aged 7 to 13), King's Ely Acremont and Nursery (for pupils aged 2 to 6) and Fairstead House (for pupils aged 1 to 11 years in Newmarket) exist to give the very best education, opportunities and pastoral care to as diverse a community of children as possible. King's Ely has the ambition to develop further as a leading school across multiple spheres, preparing pupils to live positive, productive and fulfilled lives whilst also giving them
opportunities to make the most and best of childhood.

A collaborative and creative Head is sought for King's Ely Prep School for September 2024. The successful candidate will be an outstanding leader, passionate about the growth, development and learning of young people and able to nurture all pupils to participate and flourish, academically and personally. A convincing ambassador, they will take responsibility for the leadership of the Prep School and bring an innovative and ambitious vision for the holistic delivery of an outstanding prep education as well as a commitment to preparatory boarding. Values-led, child-centred and personable, the new Head of King's Ely Prep will work closely with colleagues across the family of schools to prepare pupils to meet the future effectively and to influence it for the good. A commitment to King's Ely's nurturing and inclusive ethos is essential.
