Faculty graduate advisors

The graduate program in the Animal Science Department at UW is diverse. Faculty graduate advisors are working with students in many disciplines including animal genetics, beef cattle management, sheep production management, reproductive biology, animal nutrition, muscle biology and food safety. Graduate students, both those pursuing a Master's degree or a doctoral degree, are scientifically trained in their field of interest to best develop skills that will assist them in their future career endeavors. Scientific laboratories, animal working facilities, and production facilities, such as the UW Meat Lab, allow students and faculty researchers access to advanced resources when conducting cutting edge research.

• The minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 540 (76 IBT)

• The minimum acceptable IELTS score is 6.5

  The Departmental Graduate Studies Committee meets monthly to evaluate complete applications submitted over the previous month, and to determine candidate acceptability for the Departmental Graduate Program. To be considered for any available departmental assistantships, applications for fall semester admittance must be received by March 31^st and applications for spring semester admittance must be received by October 31^st of each calendar year. Admission is dependent upon an available faculty advisor, applicants who have not made personal contact with faculty members prior the application process may not be admitted.

  Therefore, prior to applying to graduate school, applicants should:

• Review research areas within the Department

• Identify research area(s) of interest

• Review faculty profiles

• Contact faculty members to discuss research and study opportunities

Must have completed at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited academic institution and should have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA (scale of 4.0).

• Master's Program - GRE EXAM SCORES

• Verbal reasoning section minimum is 150

• Quantitative reasoning section minimum is 141

• Doctoral Program - GRE EXAM SCORES

• Verbal reasoning section minimum is 153

• Quantitative reasoning section minimum is 144 Or

• Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) minimum score of 500
