Student Position: The Media Majlis Department Assistant 4
This position requires evening availability in exhibition coverage from 4 - 8 p.m.
Responsibilities:
- Staffing the front desk, and attending to queries from faculty, staff, students, and external visitors.
- Conducting tours, collecting data, and assisting with in-exhibition activities for the Fall 2024 reopening on August 27, 2024.
- Ability to handle various equipment within the department and, perform simple tasks like photocopying, scanning, bookbinding, etc.
- Supporting the maintenance of the storage room.
- Training and mentoring other student employees.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Minimum qualification:
- Senior or outstanding Junior.
- 2 or more years of experience within the department.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to interact confidently and courteously with museum visitors of diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of Museum Exhibitions: Familiarity with the museum's current exhibitions and willingness to learn about new exhibitions as they rotate.
- Customer Service Orientation: Dedication to providing a welcoming and informative experience for all visitors, including answering questions and offering assistance.
- Tour Guiding Skills: Capability to conduct engaging and informative exhibition tours for individuals and small groups when requested.
- Flexibility in Schedule: Availability to work evening shifts and weekends as required by the museum's operating hours and special events.
Attention to Detail: Careful observation skills to ensure the safety and security of museum exhibits and visitors. - Team Collaboration: Willingness to work collaboratively with museum staff and other student workers to enhance the visitor experience and support museum operations.
- Adaptability: Ability to handle varied tasks, such as data collection, assisting with in-exhibition activities, and managing components within the exhibition space.
- Passion for Art and Culture: Interest in and appreciation for journalism, art, culture, technology and history, with a desire to share this passion with museum visitors.
- Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold museum policies and procedures at all times.
