We are looking for a scientifically outstanding person to represent the subject of ‘Dependable Computer Systems’ in research and teaching and to complement the existing expertise in the faculty with the topic of computer architecture and functional safety as an interface between computer science and electrical engineering.
International visibility in one or more of the following subfields is required, as evidenced by published relevant work in high-impact journals, among others:
- Safety-oriented design of computer architectures,
- Functional safety in hardware architectures,
- Safety modelling in distributed systems,
- Mechanisms of hardware fault tolerance,
- Risk analysis for safety-orientated computer systems.
Experience in cooperative research and the acquisition of third-party funding from industry and public funding bodies are expected.
The professorship is involved in the teaching of compulsory and elective courses for the B.Sc. degree programmes in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, in particular with the basic lecture on computer architecture. In addition, the professorship is involved to an appropriate extent in international Master's degree programmes as well as in the teaching and further development of the ‘Functional Safety Engineering’ (FUSE) degree programme. Previous experience in the management of a degree programme is desirable. Pedagogical aptitude is a prerequisite. Responsibilities include teaching in German and English as well as participation in academic self-administration.
