Ihre Aufgaben


The Planning Engineer analyses inputs from different entities and provides as a result an activities schedule to the operations and maintenance teams in order to guarantee an highly reliable Galileo satellite navigation service to more than 4 billion users on earth. The Galileo Service Operator (GSOp) Planner/Planning Engineer is responsible to create and implement in liaison with the Lead Service Delivery Manager a planning concept and to update it according to the evolving system and stakeholder requirements by introducing an adequate Software and process support. He/she ensures the Service Operations by providing multiple but consistent plans for the day-to-day operations as well as for the maintenance activities.

The tasks of the Planning Engineer are:

  • Working in liaison with the Service Delivery Manager (SDM) Team

  • Collecting all activities needed for Service Provision and Evolution purposes, planning the activities in three different time-frames, and keeping the stakeholders (Contracting Authority and spaceopal teams) informed

  • Acting as interface for all GSOp Planning issues across the teams

  • Identifying and informing the stakeholders about planning conflicts, and suggesting solutions from the scheduling point of view

  • Supporting the Contracting Authority by preparing the Long-Term Plan and the Mid-Term Plan

  • Information interface to the Contracting Authority in conjunction with the Lead SDM and the Evolution and Engineering Manager

  • Deriving Timelines for the Launch and Early Operations (LEOP) and In Orbit Test (IOT) in coordination with the LEOP/IOT responsible persons in GSOp regarding planned Galileo satellite launches

  • Supporting the Service Provision Prediction as well as providing support to the Key Performance Indicator Measurements

  • Tracking each planned activity in the different time-frames and providing feedback

  • Supporting the evolution to an integrated planning, configuration and resources management system, in order to come up with a conflict-free plan



Ihr Profil


  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Commercial Engineering, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Telecommunications or Electronics)

  • Relevant experience on operations engineering, operations preparation and execution

  • Experience related to developments and operations in the Galileo project will be beneficial

  • Strong organizational, communication and relationship management skills.

  • Positive attitude towards cooperative team working (also leveraging resources not directly dependent on him/her) and ability to interface with customers and stakeholders.

  • Ability to set priorities, as well as identify and resolve appearing conflicts.

  • Proactive in self-learning and improvement.

  • Willingness to work in a multicultural, dynamic and challenging environment.

  • Good practical and analytical skills desirable

  • Fluent written and spoken English, fluency in Italian and/or German is advantageous.

  • Fluency in standard office automation tools (MS Office, Email, Internet, etc.)
