We are seeking a hands-on and resourceful Engineering & Prototyping Intern to join our dynamic startup focused on water treatment and environmental remediation. This role involves simulating, designing, building, and optimizing small-scale prototypes using advanced FEM, CFD and CAD tools, 3D printing, and manufacturing techniques. The ideal candidate is self-driven, solution-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Internship Engineering & Prototyping - Simulation, Design and Manufacturing (m/f/d) What you can expect

• Flow Optimization: Employ FEM (Finite Element Method) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) high-quality open-source simulation tools to optimize flow within prototype.
• CAD Design & Prototyping: Use high-quality open-source CAD tools to design small-scale proof of concept prototypes.
• Prototype Manufacturing: Build prototypes using 3D printing, CNC milling, welding, and other workshop tools.
• Hands-On Fabrication: Utilize various workshop tools and techniques, including welding and CNC milling, to create functional prototypes. " Material Innovation: Research and explore state-of-the-art prototyping techniques for diverse materials such as metals, plastics, composites, and ceramics.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the CTO - Chief Technology Officer and CPO - Chief Product Officer to transform high-level concepts into functional proof-of-concept (POC) prototypes.
• Problem-Solving: Adopt a MacGyver mentality to creatively solve challenges using available resources.
• Continuous Improvement: Investigate and implement innovative prototyping techniques to improve performance and efficiency. What you bring to the table
• Currently enrolled in a Masters program in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
• CAD Expertise: Proficiency in open-source and freeware CAD design tools for 3D modeling and engineering design
• Simulation Tools: Familiarity with open-source and freeware FEM and CFD simulation software to analyze and optimize designs.
• Manufacturing Skills: Hands-on experience with 3D printing, CNC milling, welding, and other fabrication tools.
• Material Knowledge: Understanding of different prototyping materials and their applications.
• Innovative Mindset: Creative thinker with a proactive, solution-driven approach to problem-solving.
• Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Collaboration Skills: Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with technical leadership.
