In the department for »Production Quality«, we focus on the digitalization of production systems in order to increase the quality, resilience and sustainability of production processes.
The optimization of production processes is gaining in importance due to the increasing requirements for efficiency and sustainability of processes, but is also becoming more complex. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to significantly improve the optimization of production processes in terms of time, cost and resource efficiency. The challenges arise from the selection and configuration of AI algorithms and the interaction between AI and process engineers. In your thesis, you will investigate how AI algorithms can be utilized for multi-objective process optimization and integrated into production engineering practice., With its focus on developing key technologies that are vital for the future and enabling the commercial utilization of this work by business and industry, Fraunhofer plays a central role in the innovation process. As a pioneer and catalyst for groundbreaking developments and scientific excellence, Fraunhofer helps shape society now and in the future.

You are studying mechanical engineering, computer science, mathematics or a comparable field of study

You are familiar with the theory and approaches of artificial intelligence and machine learning and would like to specialize in this field

You are proficient in the Python programming language and optimally have first experience in associated software libraries

A high level of motivation, willingness to learn and independence
