PhD position: Engineering advanced heart-on-chip devices (f/m/d)
We are looking for a motivated PhD student, who wants to work in an international and collaborative environment and learn various techniques for manufacturing microfluidic devices. The highly interdisciplinary project is focused on engineering heart-on-chip devices to study localized morphogenic changes to heart cells in a 3D environment.
The successful candidate will be working under the supervision of Dr. Sadaf Pashapour. The project is embedded in a collaboration between the Institute of Molecular Systems Engineering and Advanced Materials and the University Clinic at Heidelberg University.,

Master's degree in a Bioengineering, Biosciences and related fields (Grade better than the equivalent of 2.0 of the German grading system)

Cell culture experience (Immunostaining, 3D cell culture) and experiences with Fluorescence, Confocal and/or Widefield Microscopy are major advantages

Experience with CAD designing (Autodesk Inventor, Fusion360, Blender) are beneficial

Experience with photolithography and 3D printing is a plus, but not required

Excellent English writing and communication skills

Open for new technologies and eager to learn various new techniques

High degree of motivation, enthusiasm for research, very good organizational skills
