The department of Systems Immunology, led by Prof. Dr. Meyer-Hermann, at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI), is offering the position of a Data Scientist (f/m/d) for model based data analysis. The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research GmbH (HZI) is a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, the largest scientific organization in Germany. Scientists at the HZI develop strategies to better combat infectious diseases. Their goal is to develop novel approaches for the prevention, diagnosis, and therapy of infectious diseases. To this end, they study bacterial and viral pathogens and their interaction with the immune system and explore new active ingredients. You will work in a dynamic and interactive group of interdisciplinary researchers. The training of the Department members comprises physics, mathematics, bioinformatics, engineering, systems theory, and biology. Our research projects are strongly linked to data from partners in experimental labs or clinics. Our group is embedded in the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, one of the premier research organizations for infection research in Germany.
Ihre Aufgaben
The advertised position is part of the NFDI4Immuno consortium which belongs to the Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur (national research data infrastructure) initiative. The main task will be to collaborate with experimental partners and other data scientists as an expert on model-based analysis of immunological data. In addition, collaboration in other immunological projects of the NFDI4Immuno department will be required. The work also includes collaboration on publications and supervision of PhD students.
Ihr Profil
We expect a degree and a PhD in a quantitative field such as physics, mathematics, engineering, or computer science and a strong background in data science. Also advantageous is a solid foundation in data science. Ideally, you will have hands-on experience using at least one programming language. Additionally, it is essential to have experience in data modeling and workflow automation skills. You should have demonstrable knowledge and hands-on experience in data analysis using statistical methods and machine learning. In addition, experience in the design, development, implementation and analysis of mathematical models is essential.
