The Department of Physics at Université de Montréal is among the most dynamic in Canada, featuring internationally renowned researchers conducting cutting-edge research across the principal fields of contemporary physics, including eleven research chairs.
The Particle Physics Group (GPP) is engaged in leading-edge research, contributing to world-renowned experiments such as ATLAS, PICO, Project X17, and SuperCDMS. Complementing its experimental efforts, the GPP has a strong theoretical particle physics team. The GPP also includes the Laboratoire Technologique Avancé (LTA), which offers unparalleled support for the design and realization of particle physics experiments. The LTA comprises a highly skilled data acquisition and electronics laboratory, a state-of-the-art machining workshop, and specialized ion beam facilities.
Université de Montréal is seeking a candidate who will establish a world-renowned research program that complements the particle astrophysics research programs planned at SNOLAB and by the Arthur B. McDonald Canadian Astroparticle Physics Research Institute. However, we also encourage applications from individuals wishing to develop innovative research in other areas of experimental particle physics. Application deadline: December 13th, 2024.
Your day-to-day impact Through your teaching and your research activities, you will play a pivotal role in fostering excellence within your faculty. Furthermore, you will enhance the prominence of your area of expertise and actively participate in the daily activities of our renowned university. In this role, your responsibilities will include:

Developing an independent, dynamic, innovative, and high-quality research program in particle physics;

Teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students;

Actively participating in the dissemination of knowledge and enhance the University's reputation through conferences and scientific activities at the local, national, and international levels;

Contributing to the effective functioning and development of the Department of Physics, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and the institution by participating in committees and working groups.
Ihr Profil

Hold a Ph.D. in physics or a related field;

Have an outstanding research record, demonstrated by the impact and quality of publications, leadership in research projects, and international recognition;

Demonstrate strong potential for impactful proposed research, showing independence, realistic feasibility of the research program at the Université de Montréal, and potential for collaboration within the department;

Show strong potential to secure research grants;

Demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality university teaching and student supervision at all three levels (undergraduate, master's, and doctoral);

Exhibit experience and/or interest in scientific or educational outreach and/or in equity, diversity, and inclusion, with a long-term vision and commitment to the community;
