YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implementation of experiments to assess the efficacy of plasma treatments for the cultivation of crops concerning seed hygiene, seed germination, plant health, and plant development;
- Research on underlying mechanisms of plasma treatments for the inactivation of seed-borne pathogens and pathogens responsible for plant diseases;
- Investigate the influence of plasma treatments on seed germination processes and plant metabolic processes, e.g. growth stimulation, climate adaption, or nutrient balance;
- Evaluation, documentation, and presentation of results and findings in journal publications, at scientific conferences, for interest groups, and at trade shows;
- Cooperate with colleagues, clients, academic and industry partners on the development of technical solutions for the introduction of plasma methods into farming practice;
- Initiative and participation in the acquisition of public and industry funding;
- Contribution to scientific exchange and further development of the field of research.
YOUR PROFILE:
- PhD in either agricultural sciences, biology with a focus on plant growth, plant pathology, microbiology, or any comparable area
- Expertise in the field of plasma treatments for agricultural applications documented by a pertinent publication record
- Good knowledge of experimental and analytical methods for the study of microbial inactivation (on seeds and/or plants), seed germination, and plant growth
- Ideally good knowledge for the study of metabolic processes in plants, in plant genomics, and in plant proteomics
- Experience in the design and successful implementation of research projects
- Motivation for application-oriented research in an interdisciplinary environment
- Good communication skills in written and spoken English and ideally also in German
