Your tasks: As Consultant/Legal Advisor in our Advisory Unit, you will provide company-wide advisory and legal quality management in different legal fields including civil,contract and corporate law with an international dimension, European and national procurement law, national and international labour law and EU data protection laws.
More specifically, you will support in:
- Drafting and negotiating international consortium and subcontractor contracts (payment and liability modalities, insurance, copyrights, choice of law, jurisdiction and procedure)
- Preparing international expert contracts (correct choice of contract depending on the assignment profile, insurance requirements, advice in the event of cancellation, requirement to employ via local payroll companies)
- Handling of client contracts with inter alia the EUC, GIZ, KFW, SDC, EIB
- Procurement processes, both in GFA's own acquisition process, e.g. checking bidder rights in accordance with GWB/VgV/UVgO and suitability lending requirements, as well as in project procurements for compliance with procedural rules in accordance with client regulations and preparation of tender documents and contracts
- Drafting and regular updating of contract templates
- Documentation of experiences and good practices
- Contribution to the development or regular updating of manuals, handouts and templates
- Development, preparation and rollout of targeted trainings
- Conceptual support and optimisation of relevant internal working groups and multiplier structures, including ensuring a functioning and efficient knowledge management in these areas
- Representing GFA in conferences and seminars
- Supporting on-the-job-training of our Junior Professionals
Your profile:
- University degree Master or equivalent, preferably in Law or in in another field with Law as a Minor
- At least 3 preferably 5 years of professional experience (based on the level of experience the successful applicant may be employed at Senior Consultant level)
- Experience in contract research, development and management is considered an asset
- Professional experience in project management and development cooperation is considered an asset
- Understanding of processes related to acquisition and backstopping, hands on experience of the processes and issues around consortium contracts, expert contracts, procurement, data protection, security, taxes and registrations is considered an asset
- Full proficiency in written and spoken English and German is a prerequisite; at least intermediate level in French or Spanish is considered an asset
- Experience in coaching, training and agile working methods is considered a strong asset
- Strong analytical, writing, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage complex situations under tight schedules
- Ability to work in intercultural teams and to motivate people across teams
- Pragmatic and solution orientated approach
