Octapharma Biopharmaceuticals GmbH a subsidiary of the Octapharma group founded in 1997 is a successful and expanding biotech company in Heidelberg. Ihre Aufgaben

• Develop, implement and continuously re-evaluate high-throughput, cutting-edge developability screening strategies for a wide range of biomolecules

• Investigate protein structure-biophysical property relationships and establish correlations between biophysical properties and in silico predictions

• Design, coordinate and execute formulation studies in accordance with QbD and DoE strategies

• Plan and conduct complex experiments on robotic high-throughput platforms, statistically analyze large datasets, document and interpret results

• Present and discuss data and scientific literature in internal and external meetings

• Scientific supervision of student assistants and research associates

• Keep up with the latest developments in the field and integrate the information into the project,

• Supervised design and execution of (pre-)formulation studies and developability screenings with independent processing of subprojects

• Assist in the development, evaluation, and optimization of lyophilization processes

• Execute methods and workflows on robotic high-throughput platforms

• Create electronic lab notebooks and work instructions and contribute to the preparation of study plans and development reports

• Present and discuss data and scientific literature in internal meetings

• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and contribute to the general upkeep of laboratory

Ihr Profil

• PhD degree in protein biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics or equivalent, ideally combined with 2 years of relevant industry experience or M.Sc. plus 5 years of relevant industry experience

• Deep understanding of protein structures, biophysical properties, and their relationship

• Hands-on experience in methods and techniques specific to formulation development such as DLS/SLS, SEC, HIC, icIEF, nanoDSF, DSC, Light Obscuration and Flow Imaging Microscopy

• Experience in aspects of protein formulation, selection of suitable excipients, and freeze-drying process development is of advantage

• Strong organizational and outstanding problem-solving skills, critical and independent thinking, ability to multi-task, and attention to detail

• Expertise in the implementation of assays and workflows on liquid handling platforms is a plus

• First experience with DoE, QbD and programming languages (e.g. Python) is a benefit,

• M.Sc. in protein biochemistry, biology, biophysics, pharmaceutics or equivalent or lab technician with several years of relevant working experience

• Hands-on experience in methods and techniques specific to formulation development such as DLS/SLS, SEC, HIC, icIEF, nanoDSF, DSC, Light Obscuration, Flow Imaging Microscopy and Karl-Fisher Titration

• Comfortable with operating complex mechanical equipment (Freeze-Dryer, Liquid handling robots)

• Pro-active, flexible, self-organized, and eager to optimize and automate your daily work while coordinating your efforts with your team colleagues

• Ability to independently conduct experiments, develop assays, and analyze study results

• First experience with Design of Experiment (DoE), Quality by Design (QbD) and liquid handling systems is a benefit
