The term Graduate Assistant is the umbrella term that encompasses all types of GA appointments. Graduate Assistants are employed by the University to teach, conduct research, or assist with administrative duties in departments and non-academic units. Every attempt is made to assign Graduate Assistants to positions that are directly related to the student's field of study or that provide the opportunity to develop transferable, professional skills. Graduate Assistantships are assigned in the department or unit and confirmed by the Graduate School. Additional Details, The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) creates diverse, innovative, and student-centered learning opportunities and personalized academic support that encourage all students to define and find success at UNCG and beyond. In support of that work, the University Proctoring Lab (UPL) creates a quality testing environment for students to demonstrate their learning. In this role, the graduate assistant will serve as a proctor, and will be supervised by the Assistant Director for Academic Excellence. This position is intended to provide an invaluable educational component for the selected candidate.
Responsibilities include:

Develop an understanding of, and competency with, UPL policies and procedures.

Verify student identity and complete check-in processes.

Clearly explain UPL procedures to test takers and answer questions students may have about the testing process.

Distribute, collect, and count examination materials, and log resource use for each test taker.

Monitor the UPL during testing to discourage academic dishonesty and make sure test takers' needs are met, which includes cycling through the room every 10-15 minutes.

Enforce testing procedures outlined by faculty partner, including time limits, test materials used, etc.

Report violations and/or unusual occurrences during examinations using a standardized reporting process.

Notify appropriate personnel when test equipment malfunctions occur.

Perform general clerical tasks including answer phones, processing correspondence, maintaining files, responding to emails, and distributing mail.

Meet weekly with the Assistant Director to discuss lab management and project updates.

Other duties or relevant special projects, as assigned.

Time Commitment: Approximately 20 hours per week; starting the first week of the term and ending after Final Exams each semester. Specific work hours will be determined in cooperation with the rest of the proctoring team, based on need. Evening (5-9PM) and mid-day weekend shifts may be required.

Wir bieten Ihnen
Compensation: $6,000 stipend per semester, paid out in monthly installments. Amount prorated depending on start date. NOTE: The AAC does not provide tuition waivers.
