Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit Counseling and Psychological Services is a unit within UNCG's Student Health Services, which is accredited by AAAHC (Accrediting Association for Ambulatory Health Care). Counseling and Psychological Services provides a wide range of counseling and psychological services to currently enrolled UNCG students. The services may include short term individual counseling, group therapy, crisis intervention, psychiatric services, consultation, and outreach services. Counseling and Psychological Services' goal is to support and challenge students' development in ways that enable them to take advantage of the personal, professional, and educational opportunities at UNCG.

The position is for an Alcohol and/or Other Drugs (AOD) Counselor/Social Worker. The AOD Counselor/Social Worker's primary role is to provide substance use counseling services including but not limited to assessment, BASICS/CASICS screening and intervention, treatment planning, short-term counseling, group therapy, psychoeducation, and case management. The AOD Counselor/Social Worker will provide mental health and substance use counseling for students with co-occurring needs. The AOD Staff Counselor/Social Worker may provide substance use assessment and/or BASICS/CASICS to students sanctioned by the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR). The AOD Counselor/Social Worker will collaborate with the Spartan Recovery Program, as well as with the Substance Use Prevention and Education program in the Center for Student Well-Being. Other duties include individual counseling for a wide variety of mental health concerns, crisis intervention for a wide variety of mental health and developmental concerns; AOD and general mental health outreach programming to UNCG students; consultation with students, faculty, staff, and families; supervision and training of practicum/intern graduate students. The AOD counselor will serve on the Advisory Committee on Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Education, Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery, as well as other appropriate department and/or university committees, and participate in appropriate university activities. Collaborate closely with well-being specialists, The Counseling Center, the Dean of Students, the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, and The Spartan Recovery Program to ensure a comprehensive drug and alcohol prevention, education, and treatment program for students.

Lead federal Drug-Free Schools and Campuses Regulations compliance efforts for the University; Monitor the online Annual Compliance Statement Verification for all University Employees; Review alcohol and other drug programs, policies, and procedures and recommend changes/modifications as warranted; Ensure compliance with all institutional, state, and federal regulations and policies, and work with other campus partners to gather and disseminate information to the students, campus community, families of students, and broader community.

Prepare/update the Drug Abuse and Alcohol Prevention Plan (DAAPP).

Prepare for and Lead the AOD committee.
