The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. Within the framework of the consortium of the National Research Data Infrastructure NFDI-MatWerk (https://nfdi-matwerk.de), the digitization of materials science and materials engineering is being advanced in cooperation with approx. 30 partner institutes from universities and research institutes from all over Germany. For this purpose, customized software tools, infrastructure concepts and knowledge graphs are being developed. The resulting digital data space will map the complex relationships between the various materials data and make them easy to use. We are looking for talented people to join us.
Your activity:
Your responsibilities include:

Development of best practice examples for the collection, structuring, and provision of high-quality, comprehensively documented reference and research data sets for material mechanics tests (e.g. hardness testing, tensile testing, etc.)

Definition of quality classes and guidelines for data quality assurance and auditing of data sets

Creation of templates for (meta-) data of different quality
-
Development of guidelines for the definition, documentation, and monitoring of workflows as a basis for appropriate data curation

Communication and discussion with users in materials science and materials engineering
Ihr Profil
-
University degree (diploma or master's degree) with very good results in the field of materials science, materials engineering, or a comparable field (a completed doctorate is an advantage)

Solid knowledge in the field of conducting material mechanics tests, including the fundamentals of the associated measurement technology and the relevant standards/ testing regulations
-
Experience in (research) data management and databases in the field of materials science and materials engineering
-
Knowledge of ontological concepts or semantic data structuring is an advantage, as well as programming and analysis skills (Python, SQL)

Experience in collaboration with other research groups or with industrial partners, e.g. in the context of publicly funded research projects is an advantage

First experience in project management

Proven publication activity in peer-reviewed journals

Very good knowledge of the German and English languages, both written and spoken

Good communication and information behaviour, flexibility as well as initiative/ commitment and ability to make decisions

Ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate
