Ihre Aufgaben
The IT team with 7 staff members is responsible for the IT infrastructure. It runs the central infrastructure (network, applications, 100 servers for up to 700 clients) providing a variety of IT and communication services to ~200 employees in research, technical infrastructure and administration. The backend consists of Linux, Solaris, and Windows servers. Clients run on Windows and Linux operating systems., Jointly within the other IT team members you will administer UNIX based applications on Linux and Solaris. You will plan and develop the future system landscape and help to migrate existing and establish new applications. The tasks in particular are the following:

System administration for Linux based applications (web services, CMS, Wiki, ticketing system, printing, etc.)

Introducing new collaborative applications (e.g. NextCloud, gitlab and others)

Linux server administration with RedHat Enterprise Linux installations within a VMware farm including deployment and configuration management (Satellite, ansible)
-
Support for Linux clients within the infrastructure

File services for large amounts of scientifc data, currently based on Solaris (ZFS)
-
Archival storage system (Oracle HSM)
-
Storage system (NetApp arrays and StorageTek tape libraries)
-
Storage Area Network (FC-SAN) based Brocade technology
-
Backup for central data with CommVault
-
E-Mail services based on Oracle Communications: Messaging Server, Convergence Webmail and Calendar Server

Securing the services and servers in your realm against intrusions and abuse

(hardening, vulnerability monitoring, regular updates and patches)

Participation in oncall shifts,

payment according to the pay scale TVöD Bund (i.e. government) up to tariff group 12, equivalent to experience and knowledge

Ihr Profil
The successful candidate holds a bachelor or master in computer sciences, mathematics or natural science. Equivalent qualifications or work experience are considered as equal. The candidate proves long term practical experience in Linux/UNIX. Service orientation towards the employees is a must. German language skills are essential in the long run. A basic knowledge of German is considered a plus.
