UWA's TRIO Student Support Services program is federally funded through the U.S. Department of Education and serves students who are first-generation, low-income eligible, and/or students with disabilities. This grant has been continuously funded since 1977. The purpose of the program is to increase retention and graduation rates of participants. This position will be integral to providing students with the skills and inspiration needed to be successful in higher education.
Ihre Aufgaben
The SSS Academic Coordinator must be a dynamic and knowledgeable professional who works collaboratively with other staff in the TRIO SSS Program. Reporting to the Director of TRIO SSS, they work in conjunction with the Director to recruit, retain and graduate eligible students. Acting as the academic advisor for a caseload of 80-120 students, they provide academic, career, social/personal, financial, and graduate school advising in both individual settings and workshops or group settings to help participants achieve their goals. They maintain accurate records, produce timely weekly, semester, and annual reports, and work as a member of the team to coordinate grant services for students., Serving as an academic counselor for a caseload of TRIO students throughout the academic year: 1. Provide advising and coaching to an assigned caseload of TRIO students regarding their academic, career, financial, and/or personal goals. 2. Develop and implement individualized learning plans created with participants. 3. Monitor student progress using mid-semester grades and final grades as guiding documents, along with other tools as requested. 4. Communicate with students; keep them informed of TRIO programming and other beneficial campus programs and important dates. 5. Help students build their self-advocacy skills and success strategies. 6. Refer students for additional support services, when necessary. 7. Provide supplemental tutoring.
Coordinating and delivering courses, events, programs, trainings, and workshops: 1. Teach one section of freshman orientation. 2. Present workshops on a variety of relevant topics (study habits, financial aid, budgeting). 3. Coordinate programs and events (EG. SSS orientation and SSS annual banquet). 4. Occasional evening and weekend hours, and travel for student trips as needed.
Compiling, monitoring, and assessing student data: 1. Assist with assessing student eligibility and onboarding. 2. Record student appointments, notes, and progress in program database. 3. Assist in managing program database. 4. Ensure that student files are regularly audited for accuracy and compliance. 5. Prepare data reports in accurate and timely fashion. 6. Keep track of students who attend events and effectively record data. 7. Oversee surveys conducted by the office, including the student satisfaction survey.
Interacting with various agencies/individuals on campus: 1. Attend college meetings and college-related events. 2. Serve on campus committees. 3. Communicate with supervisor, employees, other departments, students, faculty members, other school officials, and other individuals to coordinate activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems. 4. Collaborate with colleagues in supporting student success. 5. Serve as a positive, professional representative of the work of TRIO.
Maintaining professional knowledge in applicable areas: 1. Maintain a working knowledge of the TRIO Grant. 2. Maintain current knowledge of applicable state, federal, and local laws/regulations. 3. Attend professional development workshops and training sessions related to TRIO, position, and institution.

Ihr Profil

Master's Degree in counseling, social work, education, or related field from an accredited college or university.

Two years of experience in academic coaching and/or student advisement.

Two years of experience postsecondary or high school teaching experience.

Two years of experience assisting with recruiting and retention programs and initiatives.

Two years of experience managing and analyzing data and presenting findings.

Two years of experience creating programs and/or presenting workshops.

Knowledge of financial aid programs and applications and/or economic literacy training.

Knowledge of UWA catalog, policies, procedures, and systems.

Experience working with individuals from a first-generation, limited-income, underrepresented background, and/or with individuals with disabilities.

Experience overcoming challenges similar to those of SSS students.
Wir bieten Ihnen
- Salary range: $35,000 - $45,000 - commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Full-time, 12-month position.
