Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Office of Intercultural Engagement (OIE) is a part of the Division of Student Affairs. OIE provides many varied opportunities for all UNCG students to have active and meaningful interactions within, and among, and across different areas. Programs and services are designed to reach all students and to develop intercultural competence and a sophisticated understanding of intersectionality. OIE also works with many other departments to promote intercultural competence, inclusion, access, and equity for all community members.

The Assistant Director is part of the team of dedicated professionals in the Office of Intercultural Engagement and reports to the Director of that office. This position focuses on coordinating peer education programming to a diverse student body and supporting historically underrepresented students through social, educational, and holistic wellness initiatives. The Assistant Director will work in collaboration with a host of colleagues across the campus to achieve unit, division, and campus equity, diversity, and inclusion goals. The Assistant Director is responsible for a variety of programs including Safe Zone and Trans Zone workshops, Pride Month, APIDA Month, Prism Mentoring, Gender and Sexuality Peer Educators, and Social Justice Peer Educators.
The Assistant Director will supervise two graduate assistants. The Assistant Director will provide mentoring, professional development, and oversight for the graduate assistants' assigned areas of programming.
Skills such as collaborative leadership, cultural program development and assessment, organizing complex and strategic operational processes, identifying and implementing innovative solutions, identifying and addressing institutional barriers to student retention and graduation, enhancing optimal support for diversity, teamwork, communication, and effective decision-making are essential to the successful completion of these duties., Key Responsibility Student Support Essential Tasks
