Purpose of Position This is an internal search open to candidates who are tenured faculty in the Department of Psychological Science.
The Department of Psychological Science at Northern Kentucky University invites applications at the rank of Associate or Full Professor for the position of Department Chair, beginning July 1, 2024.
The Department offers the BA and BS degrees in psychology and the MS degree in industrial/organizational psychology. We also offer the minor and area of focus in psychology and contribute service courses to the programs of numerous other majors. With almost 600 majors, we serve both traditional and post-traditional students who can complete their degree on campus and/or online. Primary Responsibilities The Chair will:

Lead the faculty in developing a strategic plan for the department

Maintain a focus on student success and recruitment

Promote and reward excellence and innovation in teaching, scholarship, service, and collegiality

Manage course scheduling, assessment of programs, and evaluation of faculty

Oversee the departmental budget

Advocate on behalf of the department's mission to promote psychological science, and represent the department at the college, university, and community level

Teach a load as outlined in the Chairs' Handbook and determined in consultation with the Dean
Ihr Profil
An earned Ph.D. in psychology from an accredited institution is required. Applicants with a documented record of effective academic leadership, excellent teaching, and outstanding scholarship are encouraged to apply., Any candidate who is offered this position will be required to go through a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.
