Julie's Bicycle (JB) is a leading non-profit mobilising the arts and culture to take action on the climate, nature and justice crisis. Founded by the music industry in 2007 and now working across the arts and culture, JB has partnered with over 2000 organisations in the UK and internationally. JB understands that the cultural and creative community can play a unique and critical role, dealing with the art of the possible, influencing new ways of being, doing and thinking, and helping to change society for the better - all whilst modelling the change that we need to see. With a unique platform from which to engage and inspire action on climate change, combining cultural and environmental expertise, JB focuses on high-impact programmes and policy change to meet the climate crisis head-on This work can only be successful if it is rooted in care and good stewardship, and JB strives to embody these values in the way that the team develops, plans and carries out all our work. JB champions climate justice and the imperative to embed justice and fairness into transformative action across the cultural community.
As this crisis deepens, JB's work has never been more needed and in demand. To meet this opportunity, we have created a new role, Head of Programmes, a pivotal position on a new three-person Senior Leadership Team and we are now seeking exceptional candidates to join our passionate and determined staff. JB runs a series of closely interlocking programmes and partnerships of different types, lengths and scales and the Head of Programmes will hold an overview of these, consistently making connections for collective learning and insight development. Working with our experienced programme leads, you will support them to align their work with strategy, seize new opportunities and manage challenges. You will lead selected strategic projects and partnerships and you will advocate confidently for JB, presenting our work externally to peers, partners and funders.
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker and experienced at supporting teams to work towards a common goal. You'll enjoy 'joining the dots'; and ensuring that the programme is more than the sum of its parts. Working closely with the Co-Directors and Programme Leads you will lead on cross-organisational learning and will collaborate on developing a strategy for more consistently evidencing our impact. Working with the wider team, you'll make sure that we are connected to key external cultural and environmental developments so that JB maintains its credibility and understanding of emerging issues.
