Research Associate in vivo gene therapy in Rare Blood Disorders
Research Associate (m/f/d) in vivo gene therapy in Rare Blood Disorders - LTK1 / in vivo experiments / ELISA / biochemical assays / English
Project:
For our customer a big pharmaceutical company in Basel we are looking for a highly qualified Research Associate (m/f/d) in vivo gene therapy in Rare Blood Disorders .
Background:
In the Immunology group, we are developing cutting edge therapies to treat rare blood disorders. As a member of Immunology, you will be part of a highly collaborative, international group of research associates and scientists that are developing medicines for the future.
We're currently looking for a research associate to assess efficacy, safety and translatability of gene therapies in rare blood disorders (bleeding/thrombotic disorders, anemia, etc..) by using different in vivo and ex vivo assays. Together with a larger team you will work with preclinical animal models and human patient material (blood and plasma) and characterize different gene therapy assets in hemostasis and thrombosis. The ex vivo and in vivo approaches will require you to be skilled in end-to-end experiments from the hands-on animal study, sample collection to different ex vivo assays.
The perfect candidate:
The perfect candidate has a degree in immunology and extensive mouse work experience. Additionally, the person has an active LTK1, FELASA or equivalent certificate. Lastly, the candidate communicates fluently in English and adds high motivation, flexibility, and excellent organizational skills to the team.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
These responsibilities capture a portion of what your work will look like:
- Executing diverse in vivo experiments (i.v. injections, blood and plasma collection, bleeding and thrombosis models or similar) and managing necessary animal welfare requirements (LTK1)
- Characterizing efficacy and safety of novel gene therapy assets using molecular and biochemical techniques (ELISA, Thrombin generation assay, chromogenic assays, etc) in murine and human samples
- Preparation, handling and in vitro/ex vivo testing and analysis of patient-derived material, including blood and plasma
- Collaborating on the development of new experimental strategies and custom assays with our research scientists
- General lab management and organization, incl. maintenance, safety, inventory, etc.
- Contributing to data analysis and communicating results to the team
- Taking and maintaining detailed documentation of data
Must Haves: - MSc/BSc in Life Sciences (cellular/ molecular biology, pharmacology, immunology), or completion of an apprenticeship for a research associate ("Lehrabschluss") with 3 years of academic or industry experience
- Allowance to conduct animal experimentation (active LTK1, FELASA or equivalent) and experience with rodents is necessary, including intravenous injections and blood collection is required, surgery experience is a plus
- Extensive mouse work experience
- High motivation, flexibility, and excellent organizational skills to support our team
- You can communicate fluently in English
- Open and collaborative spirit
- Vigorous "can do" mentality to succeed in a dynamic and highly collaborative research team
