Ihre Aufgaben


Claim auditors provide services to P&C treaty and facultative reinsurance underwriters by assessing the adequacy of the client's claims function through file reviews and management meetings. Reserving adequacy, claims staff experience and caseloads and litigation management are some examples of the aspects analyzed during audits. The outcome of the claims audits is key for reinsurance underwriters and claims staff, as it provides them with first-hand knowledge of the client's claims function, as well as of market trends and emerging risks. Furthermore, the auditors' high degree of expertise enables them to make recommendations to clients to improve claims handling.

Essential Functions:

(70%) Conduct on-site and remote claims audits, consisting of file reviews, meetings with clients' senior management, drafting of audit documentation (e.g., audit reports, recommendation letters…) and social engagements (e.g., dinners, cocktail receptions)

(10%) Schedule audits with clients (including travel arrangements)

(7.5%) Prepare for audits by reviewing cedents' information and communicating with underwriters to determine the scope of the audit

(7.5%) Advise underwriters/claims staff of trends observed in the market

(5%) Offer support and guidance to claims staff with claims-related matters with local expertise

    Essential knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in U.S. Primary and/or Reinsurance Claims handling or Claims handling management related positions (ideally with exposure to various lines of P&C insurance)

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in a commercial field (e.g., Economics, Business administration, Banking, Finance, Law or similar) or comparable qualification (e.g., certified insurance practitioner)

  • Professional credentials or industry designations (e.g., CPCU, ARe, RPLU, MBA...)

  • Strong MS-Office (especially Excel) and computer skills

  • Willingness to travel on a regular basis

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and documentation standards

  • Capacity for detail-oriented thinking with strong analytical skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity in the handling of sensitive information

  • Understanding of the German/US multicultural business environment
