The Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies (MPIfG) in Cologne is seeking to fill a Senior Researcher Position in its Political Economy Research Area . Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in political science, sociology, economics, or another related discipline, or must have successfully defended their dissertation before the start of the contract. An excellent command of English is required.

Senior researcher positions at the MPIfG are offered for an initial fixed term of three years in accordance with the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG), with the option of a three-year extension following positive evaluation (habilitation positions). Pay and benefits are based on the German public sector pay agreement (TVöD EG 13, rising to TVöD EG 14 following evaluation).

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to pursue a habilitation and to teach at the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (imprs.mpifg.de).
