Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Division of University Advancement builds and nurtures relationships with loyalty and integrity to promote UNCG's mission, foster communication and secure philanthropic support. for programming and facility excellence and opportunity for our students. Gift officers secure philanthropic support from business leaders, alumni, and friends of the University and utilize this support to create an inclusive, collaborative, and responsive environment. Through a variety of project opportunities, gift officers work with donor prospects to establish an understanding of the profound difference that can be made in the lives of students and the measure of academic excellence that can be achieved through the support of priority educational entities that the University offers to the communities served. The division includes Advancement Communications, Advancement Operations, Alumni Engagement, Annual Giving, Development, Donor Relations, Event Planning, Gift Planning, Prospect Management & Research, and the Vice Chancellor's office.



Ihre Aufgaben


The Development Officer of Development will have an understanding of and appreciation for the sciences, the humanities, and the arts in order to build upon the foundation of its advancement program. This person will deploy experience managing a fundraising program as a confident, creative, enthusiastic and results-oriented development leader. The Development Officer of Development will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting leadership annual gifts, major gifts and stewarding individuals. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing our non-profit's fundraising campaigns, communicating with current and prospective donors, and contribute to a stronger development team for our organization., Key Responsibility Gift Cultivation and Solicitation Essential Tasks

  • Identify, cultivate, and steward individuals believed to have potential to make major gifts to the College of Arts & Sciences and other University interests as appropriate.

  • Create a strategic fundraising and campaign plan for the College in conjunction with University Advancement and the Dean based on objectives and priorities in consultation with the Dean, the Executive Director of Development and other individuals within the College.

  • Effectively engage the Dean and other faculty and staff in the fundraising process and work with faculty and staff to establish internal giving program.

  • Engage and utilize volunteers to execute the fundraising plan.

  • Ensure stewardship of university resources and alignment with departmental goals.

  • Ensure conformity with established development policies.

  • Define and pursue a comprehensive and effective program for engagement and stewardship of past, current and future donors that closely ties these donors to the university and college.

  • Collaborate and coordinate activities with the Advancement Communications staff in order to ensure coordination of information to alumni and friends of the College.

    Percentage Of Time 33% Key Responsibility Solicitation of Major and Leadership Gifts Essential Tasks

  • Coordinate the development initiative of CAS's annual and campaign fundraising.

  • Sustain level of major gift activity commensurate with performance expectations and prepare detailed and timely contact reports of all visits and other contacts.

  • Focus on pipeline development with a focus on gifts equal to or larger than $25K-$250K.

  • Oversee major and leadership annual gift initiatives for the college; emphasize cultivation strategies that recognize the importance of personal interest and motivation in philanthropy in order to maximize donor potential.

  • Prepare and interpret statistical data results for college administrators.

  • In coordination with the Executive Director of Development and the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement, the Associate Director will develop plans to raise resources for University priorities.

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fundraising

  • Prior experience in leadership annual giving

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to relate to diverse constituencies including identifying, recruiting, training and recognizing volunteers

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

  • Prior experience in a higher education setting

  • Willingness and ability to travel

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to utilize technological resources available to the development staff

    Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Three to five years of experience in fundraising
